Texture Tutorial #02: How to create metallic texture II

  In the previous tutorial #1, simple metallic texture has been made. In this second tutorial, a little better shaped metallic texture will be created. some new steps will be added at the end.

 Step 01) Execute Photoshop program, and then select menu File > New command. Then, New window is shown. Set Size = 512x512, Resolution = 72, Color Mode = RGB, and then click OK button.














Step 02) Select Fore Color on left Tool Bar. Set the Fore Color = RGB(128, 128, 128).














Step 03) Insert new layer using Create New Layer command, and then paint whole texture area with Fore Color using Paint Bucket Tool on the left Tool Bar.














Step 04) Select menu Filter > Noise > Add Noise filter.














Step 05) Add Noise window is shown. Set Amount = 10 and Distribution = Gaussian.














Step 06) Select menu Filter > Blur > Motion Blur filter.














Step 07) Motion Blur window is shown. Set Angle = 0 and Distance = 20.














Step 08) For reference, if Angle value is increased, diagonal lines are generated.














Step 09) For reference, if Distance value is decreased, shorter line segments are generated.














Today, Add Noise filter and Motion Blur filter were used to create a metallic texture. In next tutorial, a seamless texture will be created.
